Making Enemies

Last May, as talk of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals moving across state lines was heating up, Gov. Kehoe introduced a plan called the “Show-Me Sports Investment Act,” but it stalled and the state legislature adjourned.  He then called for a special legislative session which passed his baby, which offers up to 50% funding support for projects to keep sports teams from moving out of Missouri.

Bryant Wolfin voted against the act.  It passed anyway (90 to 58 in the state house, 19 to 13 in the state senate.)  But it didn’t work as Kehoe hoped, at least not with the Chiefs.  In December 2025, the Chiefs officially announced they were moving to a new domed stadium in Kansas for the 2031 season.  read more

Put Everything on the Table

There should be one overriding issue in every state senator and state representative race in Missouri this year.  How are we going to address the budget disaster we are facing?  Missouri has almost exhausted the surplus lawmakers have relied on the last few years to balance the budget.  That’s not just a candidate’s doomsday prediction – it’s what our Republican State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick says.
